WordPress Performance Optimization

A fast homepage does not mean every page works well. Product pages may load slowly, or the mobile menu may respond late. I start by identifying the pages and interactions where visitors have to wait.

Look beyond a single score

I compare measurements under similar conditions. Loading, responsiveness and layout movement can point to different causes. Core Web Vitals are among the indicators used in this review.

A lab report and real visitor data describe different conditions. Where sufficient field data is available, I review it alongside the tests and record the measurement conditions for a meaningful comparison.

Prioritise the sources of delay

Large images, unnecessary scripts, expensive queries and slow server responses require different changes. I assess the expected benefit and risk before setting the work order.

  • Image dimensions and formats
  • Cache settings and page exclusions
  • Plugin and page resource usage
  • Font and external service load
  • Server response and database workload

Keep essential functions working

Caching and deferred scripts can affect forms, accounts and checkout. I account for those functions and review the exclusions needed for a store.

After the changes, we retest the agreed navigation, forms and key transactions. Hosting limitations or third-party dependencies are included in the handover notes.

Understand the result and later changes

I share before-and-after measurements, the changes made and remaining recommendations. A fixed load time or a perfect score cannot be promised for every site.

New images, advertising scripts and plugins can change performance later. I explain the relevant content guidelines and checks; ongoing monitoring can be included in a separate maintenance plan.

Common questions

Does a low PageSpeed score mean I need new hosting?

Not necessarily. Hosting may contribute, but images, themes and external services can also cause delay. We assess the cause and current resources before recommending a move.

Is a cache plugin enough?

It can help, but it will not resolve every bottleneck. Settings and exclusions for forms, accounts and checkout need to be checked.

Do images need removing to improve mobile speed?

Usually we first review dimensions, compression and loading behaviour. The aim is to reduce unnecessary downloads while keeping useful content.

Does faster loading guarantee better rankings?

No. Performance supports user experience and technical quality, but search results also depend on content, competition and other factors. Results need to be measured over time.

Start with the delay you notice
